Skill and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development of any country. They have become even more important given the increasing pace of globalization and technological changes provide both challenges that are taking place in the world. Countries with higher and better levels of skills adjust more effectively to the challenges and opportunities of globalization.
Among the issues to be faced are growing gaps between employer’s needs and the skill level of the workforce. This creates a dual edged problem, workers who have a harder time finding jobs and employers who have a harder time finding talent. Both issues are being addressed by skill development and training. The need to build a skilled workforce to compete in the global economy is a given. The challenge of how to train and retrain the right workforce will require many solutions.
COINDIA Cluster development Project is sanctioned by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi, Government of India, under Industrial Infrastructure Up-gradation Scheme, in the year 2005.
COINDIA – Coimbatore Industrial Infrastructure Association is an SPV, formed for the purpose of creating common physical infrastructure for aiding Pump, Motor and Foundry and Engineering Industries of this region. Skill Up gradation and increasing competitiveness in manufacturing techniques are the twin objectives, among other things.
Among other things, COINDIA Industrial School (CIS) involve skill development and skill up gradation of the rural semi qualified youths and under employed working executives of mall and medium scale Units, in betterment of them and as well the Units.
The CIS is offering the following courses Viz.,
1. Training in Conventional machining such as turning, milling, grinding
2. Training on Machine maintenance
3. Certificate Course in Quality Control and Inspections in Production
4. Training in Spark Erosion wire EDM
5. Certificate course in CMM
6. Certificate Course in CNC Machine operating and Programming
7. Training in operating 4&5 axis CNC Milling
8. Certificate Course in Electrical Motor Winding
9. Certificate course in Tool Engineering
